Solvents from regular paints are entering the environment and I am sure we would all wish this could be avoided. VOCs, whic is an abbreviation for Volatile Organic Compounds, are entering the air around us. This can have a number of bad effects; for instance, it can lead to the ozone to deplete, it can add to the problem of smog and also the big one; it can contribute towards global warming. As we become increasingly cognizant of the problems posed by global warming, alternatives to normal paints are being sought. The initial popularity of Earth friendly paints was less than impressive when they initially made an entry to the market in the nineties.(Take a look at Similar Article: Click This)
As consumers are now becoming conscious of the environmental issues, will Earth friendly paints be more widely chosen? Objections from the painting pros must be overcome. If paints do not come with the volatile organic compounds, the experts say that these are substandard to paints that do. The points the paint experts make are that paint that is eco friendly is not as efficient to use. The public are changing to environmentally friendly paints to avert health related conditions such as headaches and asthma so the paint producers have to consider this.
Water based latex paints which have binding qualities could be a way to deal with this issue. They are believed to be environmentally safe and being water based have no volatile organic compounds. The water based nature of latex paint means that painting on iron is a problem as it may cause rusting. No matter the downside, latex paints are becoming increasingly popular with consumers. When we say ‘Earth friendly paints’, we don’t merely mean the paint itself is not harmful to the environment, but also the process in which the paint was manufactured or how the ingredients were obtained. For example, something that has the ability to cover other paints is called Titanium Dioxide. Sulfuric acid is a by-product in the creation of Titanium Dioxide. This acid, along with the chemical substances that were dissolved in it, was released into the sea, which naturally is not good for the environment. Smog is caused by Titanium Dioxide reacting with the sun when used outside. Moreover, Titanium Dioxide has been tied in to a carcinogen found to cause cancer in human beings. Although these worries are well-known Titanium Dioxide remains widely used in paints.
The public are starting to buy Earth friendly paints now that they are learning more about the health and environmental effects of typical paints.
